A MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTORS

AT NATIONAL HOCKEY TRAINING camps, athletes will receive a training experience in the broadest possible terms. We take pride in our commitment to developing the entire athlete, and that means sharpening your skills and your conceptual understanding of the game while taking your mental game to the next level.

To help our athletes gain a unique competitive edge, NHT is proud to partner with The Program, an athletic and leadership development company that has worked with men’s hockey programs at Harvard, Connecticut College, Northeastern, Merrimack and UMass-Lowell. With an emphasis on strong work ethic, physical and mental toughness, and positive teamwork, the combined NHT/The Program experience will have enduring value not just for individual players, but also for teams, well into an upcoming season. The Program’s motivational message about personal and team commitment can improve team dynamics and provide lessons players can use both on and off the ice.

NHT camps also have the distinct advantage of an early start. Set in June, athletes will have the benefit of early preparation for a full summer of competition and exposure. Athletes will play against other top-level players while getting to know college coaches on a personal level early in the training season.

By the end of your training at NHT, you will have improved your skills, sharpened your mental game, and worked with a leadership training specialist who is a product of the finest athletic and military training in the world. You (and your team) will be well positioned for the summer season and a great year ahead. Aim high and remember: the depth of your commitment to you training will be the most important factor in determining the quality of your hockey experience in the future.

At National Hockey Training, we will encourage you to:
  • Develop an understanding of the "Comfort Zone" and its relationship to skill development.
  • Develop your creative, competitive, and imaginative impulses through participation in small games and combative activities.
  • Develop an athlete’s ability to work with, to share with, and to lead others.
  • Develop an attitude of respect for your coach, your fellow athletes, and the game of hockey.
  • Develop your ability to read and react to the many changing circumstances of an ice hockey game.
  • Develop new sources of personal strength and confidence by testing yourself physically and mentally.
