The purpose of National Hockey Training (NHT) is to provide opportunities to play college hockey by offering first-rate training programs and unprecedented exposure for college bound players. We take pride in developing the whole athlete and playing an integral role in enhancing educational opportunities through hockey for each and every NHT participant.

Jim Ward // Co-Director
2013-14 NESCAC Coach of the Year and current Head Coach at Connecticut College, Jim has worked with players of all ages as a skill development coach. During his career, Jim has worked as an assistant coach at Princeton University, Union College and Norwich University and as Head Coach and teacher at Northfield Mount Hermon School in Northfield, MA. Having worked with student-athletes as a coach, scout, recruiter and teacher, Jim brings his expertise to all aspects of the NHT program.
Whitney Colbert // Girls Major Camp Director
Whitney recently finished her first year as an assistant Women's Hockey Coach at Union College. Prior to Union, she served as the assistant coach at Connecticut College from 2014-2016. She was a four-year player at Trinity College and graduated in 2014. Whitney has also served as a skills coach in numerous USA Hockey national camps and has acted as an evaluator for the New York, Multi-District, Atlantic and New England evaluation tryouts. Having worked with both Division I and Division III athletes as a scout, recruiter and teacher, Whitney is looking forward to developing youth athletes to prepare for the next level. A 2010 graduate of the Berkshire School, Whitney is excited to bring back the girls NHT camp.
Andrew Will // Boys Minor Camp Director
Andrew is the Head Hockey Coach, Associate Director of Admissions, and Student Advocacy Coordinator at the Salisbury School. In his eight years at Salisbury, Andrew’s teams have won four New England Prep School Championships. Prior to arriving on the Hilltop, Andrew served four years as the Varsity Hockey Coach and as an English Teacher at Upper Canada College in Toronto. Before that, Andrew spent five years as an assistant coach at Union College and RPI. A 1997 graduate of Union College, Andrew was named captain in his senior year and was awarded the ECAC Best Defensive Defenseman award. Andrew is slated to complete his Masters in Educational Leadership this coming winter.
Jeff Dwyer // Boys U14 Director
Jeff is a four year letter winner and graduate from Yale University. He was a 2001 Ivy League rookie of the year and a 2000 NHL draft pick of the Atlanta Thrashers. After graduation Jeff has played and coached at the professional level in the AHL, ECHL and in Europe. Jeff worked for College Hockey Inc. before accepting his current Director of Admission and Financial Aid at The St. Georges School where he is also the Assistant Boys Hockey Coach.
Mike Maher // Co-Director
Mike is an educator, administrator and a talented and committed skill development coach. A four-year player and captain at the University of Vermont, and head coach of the boys’ varsity program at the Taft School in Watertown, CT for 18 years, Mike has worked in a myriad of skill development programs throughout his career. Many of his players have gone on to the most selective college hockey programs and several have been NHL draft choices. He has served as a coach for USA Hockey and a scout for the Calgary Flames, former Head at Berkshire and is currently the Director of The Kerry Cup and the new Headmaster at Northwood School.
Ending his formal playing career upon graduation from Northfield Mount Hermon in 2014, Johnny immediately shifted his focus to the coaching side of the game. Currently, he is a member of the class of 2018 at Amherst College, where he plays on the golf team and serves as the Director of Hockey Operations. After being a camper, he joined the NHT staff in 2015.
